Explore Tiny Homes at the Tiny Home Show

Jun 2023 | By Maria Sturova

You might have seen tiny homes featured on Netflix’s Tiny House Nation and countless Pinterest boards, but most people have not seen one in real life. The Tiny Home Show offers the opportunity to tour real tiny homes and learn more about the opportunities they present in the current housing market.

As housing prices continue to climb, home ownership is out of reach for many in Hamilton, where the show is taking place and the average home sale price is hovering around $900,000.

By comparison, most new tiny home builds are priced under $200,000.

The Tiny Home Show, held in Ancaster, Ontario from July 28 to 30 aims to immerse attendees in the tiny lifestyle with a lineup of professionally built tiny home models and expert speakers.

The show explores affordable and sustainable housing options and offers the opportunity to engage with others in the Canadian tiny home movement.

Age in Place – How do Tiny Homes Help?

Tiny home dwellers are attracted by the financial freedom of tiny living and the flexibility they offer. Many Ontario retirees are considering tiny homes as an option for an age-in-place lifestyle.

By taking advantage of new ADU (Additional Dwelling Unit) and garden suite laws in Ontario, retirees can place a tiny home in their backyard to generate a passive income while increasing their property value.

Some are even buying the tiny home for themselves while renting out their main house, thus simplifying their lifestyle and reducing stress and maintenance while remaining in the neighbourhood they call home.

Whether you’re interested in investment opportunities, downsizing, or a more mobile lifestyle in retirement, the Tiny Home Show will be a great place to learn the legalities, tour real tiny homes, and ask all your questions.
