Fossil Farms is a one-of-a-kind community located just 15 minutes outside of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, where residents can enjoy the restful retreat of rural living without compromising on urban convenience. With a wide variety of onsite amenities designed to enhance your health and wellness, Fossil Farms was designed to create a safe, close-knit, village-style community of retirement rentals by the sea.

Two Clubhouses 

There are two clubhouses for plenty of activities and social interactive. First is the “Barn”, which serves as the main Clubhouse and a social-hub for residents to come together, while our second clubhouse contains a garage/workshop and the gym, offering ways to stay active indoors.

Beyond the working farm with vineyards, orchards, greenhouses, gardens, apiary, and livestock, Fossil Farms is home to a unique array of amenities both indoor and out. From a gym and sauna to a workshop and clubhouse, plus walking trails, a telescope, firepits, and so much more, there’s something for everyone here. Amenities like these facilitate a thriving social atmosphere, where neighbours pair up for friendly games, form walking groups, and bond over shared passions. Residents of Fossil Farms form birdwatching clubs, stargaze together at our shared telescope, tend the gardens, and come together for countless events and activities.

Farm to Table Dining

There’s even a weekends-only seasonal high-end Field to Table private restaurant on site, so you can enjoy fresh farm-to-table cuisine that comes right from home, from farm-fresh eggs to home-grown fruit, vegetables, and honey. And any ingredients that aren’t made or grown onsite at Fossil Farms are sourced directly from nearby businesses, limiting the environmental impact of transportation while supporting the local economy.

Beyond its exceptional location, where you’ll find yourself close to theatres, restaurants, golf courses, shopping, hospital, and more, Fossil Farms offers a wide range of its own unique amenities for residents to explore. From scenic hiking trails, pickleball court, and kayaking, to bonfires, patios, gardens, outdoor pool with wood-fired sauna, there’s a style of outdoor living for every walk of life.

The Homes

Integrated naturally within this remarkable master-planned community, an exclusive collection of residences were designed to offer an exceptional retirement lifestyle at a truly affordable price. These charming rentals come in a variety of styles, with 1–2 bedrooms and optional flex space to best accommodate the versatile needs of modern residents. Filled with full-sized appliances, in-suite laundry, and versatile living spaces, these suites are bright, beautiful, and comfortable. Rents start at $1,300 and range up to $1,900 per month. A small monthly farm-fee includes access to all the incredible amenities ($145 per person/$245 per couple.)

A 200-year old working farm

The solar-powered sustainable Farm itself presents a unique lifestyle for residents to enjoy. Get all the benefits of living and working on a farm and tending your own gardens, with available greenhouse and container farm, plus well-loved chickens, goats, and sheep. The orchard and apiary work in harmony to promote healthy pollination and plenty of honey. There’s even a vineyard here at Fossil Farms, filling the hillside with lush green grapes waiting to be transformed into your own well-balanced vintage.
