August brings us the “dog days of summer,” a phrase referring to the time between the end of July and the start of September. The Ancient Greeks originated the phrase to mark the time when the Dog Star, Sirius, the brightest star in the Northern Hemisphere, rises just before the sun, heralding the hottest days of the year. For many, these “dog days” will bring the simple pleasures of kicking back and relaxing by a lake. But they can also be a great time to plan without distraction.
